About the Colorado Walleye Association
The Colorado Walleye Association is a non-profit organization whose
mission statement is “Encouraging family, friends and fun through
education and competitive angling while conserving out walleye resource”.
A few facts about the CWA:
- January 14, 1991 incorporated as a non-profit corporation in the state of Colorado
- Governed by four elected officers and several appointed directors
- Membership climbs to about 500 members in the summer
- Consists of four chapters
- North – Longmont, Loveland and Fort Collins areas
- Central – Denver metro area
- South – Colorado Springs and Pueblo areas
- Northeast – Sterling, Brush and Fort Morgan areas
- Monthly informational and educational meetings held at each chapter
- Holds an annual award and fund raising banquet
- Maintains a website at www.cwaonline.net
- Participates in the Free Fishing Day programs and the DOW Warm Water Clinics
- Holds educational seminars to increase fisherpersons knowledge of walleye at local sporting goods stores
- Hold competitive tournaments
- Two non-points tournaments, one in the spring and one in the fall
- Four points tournaments in the summer
- Averages 80 two person teams in our tournaments
- Points tournament placement allows for the top 10 teams to go to the annual National Walleye Team Championship sponsored by Cabelas
- Volunteers heavily for the Colorado Division of Wildlife
