Aurora Gander Mountain – Spring Walleye Tips

CWA member and Colorado fishing guide, Steve Gerber of Toknow Guides will be giving a spring walleye seminar at the Aurora Gander Mountain on Thursday April 26th from 7:00 to 8:30pm. Steve will cover “Walleye Seasonal Movements” and “Trolling for Walleye Made Simple”. Steve not only is a fisherman but an astute study of what makes fish react to changes in their surroundings. He spends a lot of time researching on how lake environmental changes make walleye patterns change.

The CWA sped off into 2007 with two very successful annual events: the Awards and Fund-raiser Banquet and the 4th Annual 'All Eye's on Walleyes' Exposition.

Horsetooth Fish Advisory

A recent study has uncovered elevated levels of mercury in the Horsetooth reservoir walleyes. Young children and pregnant women are advised not to consume the fish. Similar results are expected, but not yet verified, to be the same in most front range reservoirs.

North Chapter Christmas Party

The North Chapter would like to thank everyone who participated in this year's North Chapter Christmas Party located once again at the Derby Grill in Berthoud, CO. Without a doubt, everyone in attendance had a great time and ate the best walleye dinner served in Colorado. Ft. Carson rounded up 32 kids whose dad or mom was either actively deployed to Iraq or soon will be deployed and transported them to Pueblo on Saturday the 17th of June, 2006.

Big Fish were weighed at the 1st Points Tournament held at Lake McConaughy

Robby Rowland and Scott Sunstrom weighed the most fish with a two day total of 39.65 pounds. Meanwhile, Pat and Tanner Oseicki landed the biggest fish of the two day tournament, weighing nearly 10 pounds.

Ranger Cup Tournament finishers in the top 20 who own Ranger Boats are now eligible for an additional payout from Ranger.

Ice Breaker Tournament Date Moved!!!

The Ice Breaker tournament at Cherry Creek Reservoir has been moved to Sunday May 7th, 2006. If this change creates a conflict for anyone already registered, a full refund is available.

Pueblo Fish Hatchery Tour
(Saturday April 1, 2006 11:30 AM)

Dave Harris, Pueblo Fish Hatchery Director, has agreed to give a tour on Saturday April 1st. The tour should cover how walleye are hatched and raised until they are ready to be released in many Colorado reservoirs. Without this resource, walleye fishing in Colorado would be very different. Anyone interested should meet at the hatchery by 11:30 AM. The Hatchery is located just east of the dam off of Highway 96 (Thatcher Ave). For additional information, call Paul at 303-549-7537.
