Big Fish of the Month

The CWA Big Fish of the Month award is awarded to one adult member and one youth member per chapter on a monthly basis. The adult angler will receive a plaque and the youth angler will be awarded a trophy. The following rules apply:

Adult Big Fish of the Month

• Only Wallayes or Saugeyes can be entered. (Sauger do not exist in CO.)
• The fish MUST have been caught in a Colorado Water.
• The minimum length is 15 inches.
• The entry can only be submitted for the month in which the fish was caught.
• The submission must be postmarked or faxed by the last day of the month. Exemptions can only be granted by chapter directors for late entries.
• Submit the completed form to your local chapter coordinator

Youth Big Fish of the Month

• A youth angler is considered up to 18 years of age.
• Only Wallayes or Saugeyes can be entered. (Sauger do not exist in CO.)
• The fish can be from any water. Out of state entries will not counted towards the Youth Angler of the Year.
• No minimum length applies.
• The entry can only be submitted for the month in which the fish was caught.
• The submission must be postmarked or faxed by the last day of the month. Exemptions can only be granted by chapter directors for late entries.
• Forward the completed form to your local chapter coordinator

CWA Angler of the Year

This award goes to the CWA member who outright wins the most 'Big Fish of the Month' awards in a calendar years time period. Ties most likely will result in a co-winner, but will be determined by the board of directors and the big fish committee. The winners of each monthly contest in all chapters are totaled in determining the Angler of the Year.

The youth angler award will be awarded likewise, but only Big Fish of the Month Awards that were caught in Colorado will be totaled.

Colorado Division of Wildlife
Master Angler Program

Any angler (not just CWA members) that catches a Walleye or Saugeye that meets or exceeds 26 inches in length can apply for a Colorado Division of Wildlife 'Master Angler' certificate and patch. See the CDOW 'Master Angler' for more details.
