Zebra Mussels in Colorado!Zebra Mussels have recently been discovered in Pueblo Reservoir. This is a predatory shellfish that can rapidly multiply and ultimately sterilize a body of water. One greatly publicized case of this species is present in Lake Erie, where the lake miraculously went from a polluted waste pit to crystal clear waters in a short period of time. The greatest fear is that the muscles will exhaust the waters of plankton, which is the foundation of the food chain. Pristine waters are good for the bathtub but not for an aquatic ecosystem. Zebra Mussels and a Southern Colorado Fishing UpdateA MUST READ. In February, the South chapter hosted Jim Melby and Gary Dowler, CDOW Fisheries Biologist from the south and east part of Colorado. The most important issue discussed was the Zebra Mussel Infestation in Pueblo Reservoir. In addition, they offered insight into several other popular bodies of water.
