PLEASE NOTE: THIS MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE DOW OFFICES The DOW will present a powerpoint presentation that would explain forage management and the relationship to developing and maintaining predator populations with special emphasis on walleye/saugeye. “Predator and Prey Management – Considerations for Sustained Quality Walleye & Saugeye Populations”. · The determinant reservoir factors for forage management (basin morphology, phys/bio characteristics, and water management). · A review of walleye/saugeye forage (dominant species, importance of other forage species, seasonality) · The predator component and how we manage for a sustained fishery (walleye/saugeye in conjunction with other predator species like white bass, wiper, cats, black bass, etc) · Predator/forage management (goals/objectives for developing, maintaining and balancing predators) · Factors that influence the predator/prey balance (water management, year-class strengths, stocking supply, survival, recruitment, etc) · Management options to influence predators/forage and the balance between them (stocking, regulations, habitat) · Case studies.
