2009 R n R Warriors EventThe CWA and the Warriors Outdoors http://www.warriorsoutdoors.com/ teamed up at Chatfield Reservoir on June 13th 2009 to host the first annual “R n R” in support of our military and family members based out of Fort Carson. Upon boat launch, we had 32 active duty, disabled veterans and family members to be taken out for a calm afternoon of fishing. Most boats reported catching Walleye, Rainbows and some Small Mouth Bass during our time spent on the water. The CWA members work diligently to put our participants on fish and worked together to ensure success for everyone involved; mixing boats in and out within close proximities of one another over the old road bed and picking up Walleye. Not sure who had more fun; the kids catching their first fish, the family interactions and quality time spent together or our CWA boat captains running around the boat netting fish and rigging for the next bite. This event was about enjoying the blissful time of seeing people rekindle the spirit of fishing and relaxing. Our participants enjoyed the fruits of nature and quality family time together with some of the best Walleye anglers in the state. During the fishing outing, stories were swapped, jokes were told and new friendships were created. The amount of respect on behalf of everyone who attended the event was absolutely amazing, thank you for everyone’s participation. Mid-day we all came back in for a great lunch prepared by the Warriors Outdoors. This was an exceptional lunch and a fine finishing touch on a memorable day. All in all we all had a great time and look forward to doing this again next year. Quote of the day; when asking one of the soldiers if he had caught fish, his response was “No, I didn’t fish. I had too much fun watching my kids catch fish and it was about spending the time with the family. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed being with them and watching everyone have so much fun”. Something so simple, yet so memorable.
