2009 Ice Breaker TournamentFor official details regarding this tournament, please refer to the official tournament page.
Ice Breaker April 25, 2009 The first flight of boats (1-21) left the boat ramp at 0630 and the second flight (22-43) left at 0700 on an overcast 48 degree morning with a light breeze. The day remained overcast with intermittent light rain but the weather did not seem to discourage our anglers. The Walleye bite was good for smaller fish but tournament anglers had to weed through the abundant undersized fish to produce a few quality fish. All boats reported catching good numbers of Walleye, but legal Walleye proved to be tough to catch. The big fish for the day was a 4.90 lb Walleye caught by the team of Frank Becvar and Todd Chrisofferson which helped them claim 3rd place in the overall standings. First place was a tie for a final weight of 8.24 lbs for the teams of William & Faustina Mueller and John Ramsey & Art Petz. Due to a tie, 1st and 2nd place earnings were combined and split equally between the two teams. Our Top placing youth team was John and Aaron McMullen. Congratulations to our top placing teams and all the other competitors. Our Ranger Cup winners was the team of William & Faustina Mueller who take home and additional $150 for the top ranking Ranger team. This team was also our Top Mixed Team. Congratulations! A special thanks goes out to Cherry Creek State Park for their cooperation and assistance throughout our CWA event. Everyone at Cherry Creek State Park went out of their way to accommodate our CWA tournament, anglers, and spectators. In addition, all Zebra mussel inspections went efficiently; over 40 boats in less than 30 minutes. Thanks for the extra support and prevention measures in place to help protect our waters. The tournament was a success and we would like to thank everyone for the participation, sportsmanship and cooperation during the tournament. A total of 46 Walleye were weighed for a total of 106.10 lbs.
