2009 Points Tournament 4 RecapFor official details regarding this tournament, please refer to the official tournament page. These results are not official until reviewed by the Tournament Director. Thanks to Pueblo State Park for hosting the CWA Final Points Tournament at their facilities. ANS inspections went very efficiently both days. As always all the Pueblo staff, Rangers and Park Management were all a pleasure to work with throughout our event. Pueblo has great facilities and everything is clean and well maintained thanks to constant upkeep by their maintenance personnel. Let them know your appreciation next time you fish this reservoir. Special thanks goes out to our sponsor; Canon Marine. They have been a primary sponsor throughout the 2009 tournament season and have provided impeccable support. Canon Marine has been critical to our success during the season and provided the Stratos starting boat for 3 of the 4 point tournaments. Their staff has helped or repaired various boat problems on the water during tournament hours with a 100% success rate. This type of support has enabled our anglers to continue fishing with minimal loss of fishing time, a special thanks to Matt, Brian and Larry. This type of support has raised the bar during our tournaments. Dave and Sue are the owners of the Canon they spent some time with us over the weekend and I will tell you first hand, these are some of the most respectful, genuine, friendly quality people you will ever meet. They provided assistance at the weigh station and helped answer questions all weekend long. I cannot say enough about Canon Marine and their support for the CWA. It’s obvious; they do their absolute best to ensure top notch business operations and customer service. Customer service is a number one priority for anyone who walks in their door. If you are looking for a new boat or service work; don’t over look their dealership, call or go down to see what they have to offer. They have Stratos, Lund and an array of other lines to offer anyone in the market for a new boat. CWA members get special deals, so make sure you mention you are a CWA member and have your membership card to receive special incentives exclusive to CWA members. http://www.boats.com/sites/canonmarine Fishing was tough over the course of the weekend, but teams managed to find and catch fish. Some fish were deeper than expected and not overly cooperative but some good Walleye were caught primarily trolling cranks. Larry Bolin and Jack Blair thought they were going to have the big fish award for a 4+ pound Walleye on Saturday until the second flight came in when Justin Jones and Ray Shank pulled a 6.13 lb Walleye out of their Starcraft live well which won them the big fish award for the day. Fish were somewhat scattered, but some found pods of fish willing to cooperate, but then it was the challenge of catching the legal fish. The team of Robert Seitz and Cary Weaver fishing out of their Lund managed to find and catch the legal fish on Saturday and captured 1st place for the day. They were followed very closely by Justin Jones and Ray Shank fishing out of their Starcraft. Sunday started off overcast with a light breeze keeping anglers cool in the morning, but the Walleye bite was not on. Legal Walleye action was slow for all the teams. Most reported catching fish, but the legal fish were far and few between. This produced a lean day for Day 2 of the tournament and probably some of the toughest conditions we have seen this year. Our day 2 winners were Bob Schafer and Justin Crump fishing out of their Lund followed by Ron Hammel and Terry Schleski fishing out of their Ranger. Our big fish of the day was caught by the father and son team of the Zuber’s weighing in at 2.92 lbs. Our top overall mixed team for the weekend was the Shawn and Tiffany Hooks, fishing out of their Ranger. For the entire tournament, First Place was Robert Seitz and Cary Weaver. Second Place went to Randy Allenbaugh and Robbie Effinger. Third Place was a tie between Bob Schafer/Justin Crump and Justin Jones/Ray Shank. Congratulations to all of our teams. Despite the tough fishing conditions the tournament went off without any hitches and was a good tournament with great people and lots fun. Thanks to everyone who participated in this tournament and the tournaments throughout the year. We look forward to next year and making our tournaments even better.
