Laramie County Kids Event at Horsetooth

Laramie County Youth Fishing Tournament on May 2, 2009.

We had temperatures in the uppers 30’s to kick off the event with an overcast day of fishing with the youths on Horsetooth.  Intentions were high and everyone was excited to get on the water to see what they could reel in.  As the day progressed, the weather held, but the day remained cool throughout the tournament.  Of the 20 youth teams most reported catching fish, but the Walleye bite was tough.  But, the Smallmouth other hand seemed eager to provide some entertainment through the day with legal fish being caught by many of the teams.

This event was an excellent success thanks to all the participation and generosity of the Laramie County Parks, sponsors and participants.  A special thanks to Naked Bait, CWA, Eagle Claw…..This could not have happened without the participation and interest in the youth tournament, thank you all. Everyone had a great and safe time while enjoying quality time spent on the water with youth anglers; our future anglers.

captured 1^st place in the Walleye division while Travis and Trevor Huppert captured 1^st in the Smallmouth Division and following close behind was Ben Lind and Chris Whittle.

Thanks to everyone who made this event happen and the generosity of all the sponsors.  Mark from the Laramie County Parks ran a very good tournament in conjunction with Steve Gerber.  Thank you all for hosting an event for our youth anglers on such a great impoundment.  Congratulations to everyone on and enjoyable day on the water and the fish caught in the tournament. This was a fine opportunity for taking our youth anglers out for a fun and educational day of fishing.
