2007 Tournaments Preview
Happy Holidays!
This is just a blurb to let you all know that the 2007 CWA tournament season schedule is now in place and you will be receiving info on the web site and in the mail when the forms are completed. The tourneys have been spread out to one per month, April thru September. We will be going to Cherry Creek, Sterling, Big Mac & Pueblo. In fact we'll be going to Big Mac twice. Glendo didn't pan out this year - maybe next year - we'll see. We're going to Pueblo twice also - once for a point tourney and again for the Fall Classic. The schedule is as follows:
| Cherry Creek Ice Breaker | April 29, 2007 |
| Sterling Reservoir | May 19 & 20, 2007 |
| Big Mac | June 23 & 24, 2007 |
| Pueblo Reservoir | July 21 & 22, 2007 |
| Big Mac | August 18 & 19, 2007 |
| Pueblo Res. Fall Classic | September 15 & 16, 2007 |
There are some changes for the 2007 season also. There will be a reduction in the entry fee for the tourneys - this will reduce the payouts a bit too. There will be only a first place overall money prize for the top youth and top mixed teams for each point tournament. We will have a picnic on Saturday after weigh in for each point tourney. The club will provide the main course, plates and utensils, and everyone brings a side dish. EVERYONE will be expected to bring a little camaraderie! You'll get details of location and time at the Friday night meeting. We are also working on having each tournament sponsored. For example, Gander Mountain is sponsoring our 1st Big Mac event. They will have some giveaways and they are also providing some help at the weigh station for each event. That's great! We will be leaving the second day start as the reverse of day one. For those of you who try to get in at the last minute...don't do it! The later you wait to send in your entry, the more chance of me not receiving it in time. I will get your postcards out to you in a timely fashion IF I receive your entry in a timely fashion. If there is no time to mail it, I will call you. If you have not received a postcard or a call, then you need to contact me! Don't just assume that I received your entry and show up at the tourney. You WILL NOT fish, if I do not have your entry w/CURRENT membership. No exceptions!
I think that these changes will be good. I know that not all of you will be happy with everything, but this is what it is. It takes a lot of research, negotiating and time to get the schedule in place. There has been a lot of thought put into it. I will be looking for a couple of volunteers to help set up the picnics and some start boat help. Let me know if you can help.
I really hope that we have a good turn out for the tourneys and picnics next year. We used to have fun at the tourneys. Lets try to bring back the lightheartedness that was present in the past. I know everyone is competitive, that's part of the fun, but let's not make it cutthroat. Let's have the tournaments for the fun FIRST - the competition second. Come to the tournaments and picnics and get to know some of your friendly competitors off of the water! Bring your families - we love to see families there!
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me after 7PM or email me anytime. Thanks and have a wonderful Holiday!!!!!
